Chord Epic - Ethernet/LAN cable
- Ethernet cables don’t normally use high quality silver-plated conductors, high speed insulation and high density shielding. Epic streaming cable has been designed to get the best and most coherent sound from any decent audio streamer.
The Epic Streaming Cable has been developed for use with digital audio streaming components – we can’t call them Ethernet cables because they’re not.
Ethernet cables don’t use high quality silver-plated conductors, high speed insulation materials, high density separate pair shielding or high density overall shielding. Neither do they use use Tuned ARAY conductor geometry, developed particularly for streaming cables.
The Epic Streaming cable however uses all of those things. It also uses a high precision RJ45 connector with gold-plated contacts that we modify in order to be able to directly solder the conductors to the contact pins. One of the more pleasurable aspects of working at Chord is the Demonstration Room. It means spending lots of time listening to music, it’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it. We started listening to streamers when they first became available and we started experimenting with cables when we started listening to streamers.
Those first experiments showed that it was worth spending time on some further research and like every other cable we produce we worked on streaming cables primarily to see if it was possible to improve the listening experience. We wanted to see if we could develop the Tuned ARAY conductor concept to work with streaming cables. The Epic streaming cable will help your system to sound more musically coherent and the Tuned ARAY conductor configuration developed for the streaming cables will help the system sound more involving and more detailed. We don’t produce any product that doesn’t add to the musical experience, so put any preconceptions to one side, borrow one and have a listen. That way you can find out for yourself.
