Supra USB 2.0 A-B High Speed - USB A-B
- Supra USB 2.0 will reward you with a dynamic, rich and detailed music experience.
The sales of USB devices has increased exponentially and we are proud to offer our impedance aligned cable for digital audio convertors, music streaming from computers, multimedia players, among a lot of other devices offering an USB interface. There is a great need for a standard specific, impedance aligned cable, since failed bit transmissions undoubtedly will be detected when listening to your music. The consequential error correction and number of transmission re-tries will leave audible traces.
Many USB interface users are accustomed to that the USB interface limits the distance between the devices, but not any longer. Supra USB 2.0 allows for distances up to 15 meters between your devices! The trick is as always, the shielding, separate for each pair of leads, correctly twisted leads and the exact impedance alignment of 90ohm, which is absolutely vital for USB applications for jitter-free transmissions. Supra USB 2.0 will reward you with a dynamic, rich and detailed music experience. Undoubtedly!
Note! Be careful in the use of ferrites. Not all ferrites are tuned correctly to be used with this high frequency data transfer cable without changing the electrical proporties of the cable to the point where the data transfer is corrupted and/or slowed down. This is a general notification for all digital interconnects. We have encountered HDMI cables not coming even close to the original excellent performance, thanks to later added ferrites with the benign intention of reducing RFI.
A flexible cable with dual screens for the best RF pick-up protection. One twisted pair for data and one twisted pair for power, individual screens for minimal interference. Low capacitance and efficient noise rejection maintain signal integrity in the long run interconnects. PE-insulated wires with correct 90 Ohms impedance design.
24K gold plated and shielded connectors. The connectors are molded to withstand tough applications and long term use. Handles high speed 1200 Mbps data transfer up to 15m.
While USB 2.0 and 3.0 are compatible, USB 3.0 is a dual-link system not used for USB Audio.
In the November 2012 issue of What Hi-Fi, the Supra USB cable won a convincing 5 stars review - it was compared against Audioquest Cinnamon USB (£59 and 4*), Clearer Audio Silver-line USB (£40 and 3*) and Russ Andrews Kimber USB (£52 and 4*). <View test> |
Supra USB 2.0 was recommended in the Polish AUDIO VIDEO magazine in May 2013. “ The relationship quality / price - excellent.” |
QUICK AND EASY
For all tests of USB cables, we use a Macbook Pro connected, depending on the test, with a Cambridge Audio Dac Magic Plus, a HRT Music Streamer II and a Rega DAC.
The Test
For this test, Macbook Pro, HRT Music Streamer II and the usual songs played from our iTunes library. The cable of comparison is the usual cheap USB cable bought at a department store length of 3 meters and the cost of 7 €.
The Supra USB2 shows a typical grey / blue coloured sheath that characterizes most of the cables of the house. The USB ports are cheap sealed thermo-plastic type. The hardness of the cable is average but it is not very flexible, and after several curves tends to have a memory effect on folds.
The most prominent difference was detected by listening to some tunes with great extensions in the range. With NA NA'Waltz by Aqua Bassino, the rarefied notes of the piano extend in space and the high range is brilliant, present, and much less digital than the reference cable. The biggest surprise is in the low range, where the particular artificial notes of the bass are deep, round and warm. The horn of Collin Steele is reproduced with the atmosphere of New York nights, just quietly and which gradually expanded across the suburbs. Very realistic then, cold but without the iciness of the reference cable.
Conclusions
In summary a great cable in relation to the low purchase price and that makes you forget almost always to be in the presence of cold digital signals. 5 stars Audiocavi. com
